Introduction to Supporting Early Readers
As a parent, guiding your child towards becoming an independent reader can be one of the most rewarding journeys. With the right techniques and support, you can instill a love for reading in your young ones that lasts a lifetime. This article aims to empower parents with insights on how to foster reading skills in children under the age of eight.
Three-Session Consultancy Overview
To help parents effectively support their children in reading, I offer a three-session consultancy designed to provide personalized guidance. Each session lasts one hour and is designed to progressively build your skills and confidence.
1. **Session One**: We begin with an introduction to essential tips on how to guide children to read. This includes understanding different reading techniques tailored for young learners.
2. **Session Two**: In this interactive session, parents will read to me, allowing for practical demonstration and feedback. This hands-on approach ensures that you can apply the techniques learned effectively.
3. **Session Three**: The final session involves parents reading to their children while I observe. Constructive feedback from this session will help solidify your understanding and skills.
Continued Support and Individual Sessions
Following the initial consultancy, I also offer individual sessions for ongoing support. These 30-minute online consultations allow parents to check in and refine their reading guidance strategies. Each individual session is available for USD 30.
With a background in education, holding a PhD from the University of Melbourne and having two children who could read by age three, my approach is grounded in proven techniques. I understand that reading is not just about recognizing words but developing comprehension and a lifelong passion for literature.
